# Instructions and references

> Identify the target and give the task useful references.

<h2 id="identify-targets">
  1\. Identify targets
</h2>

<span id="identify-targets-overview" />

Give Ideatura an exact Revit reference: select the relevant elements, name the view or sheet, or provide element IDs. Use a markup when location or geometry is easier to explain visually.

Pair that reference with a bounded instruction: what should change, which rule should apply, and where the agent should stop. Avoid “this” or “there” when several objects could match.

<span id="identify-targets-example-request" />

**Example request**

```text theme={"dark"}
In [view name], inspect elements [IDs]. Propose external dimensions using [reference and offset rule]. List missing information and wait before changing the model.
```

<span id="identify-targets-in-ideatura" />

1. Identify the target in Revit and in Connected Apps.
2. Supply a selection, name, ID, or marked view.
3. Describe the expected result and the untouched scope.
4. Ask for a plan if the interpretation is uncertain.

<span id="identify-targets-check-the-result" />

The proposed work names the same view and elements that you intended.

<h2 id="files-and-skills">
  2\. Files and skills
</h2>

<span id="files-and-skills-overview" />

Use Attach file for a drawing, image, PDF, or other supported reference. Use Attach skill when you want specialist instructions included with the task. Review the attachments shown beside the prompt before sending.

State how each reference should be used: authoritative dimensions, material information, a naming example, or visual intent. Tell Ideatura which source takes precedence when they conflict.

<span id="files-and-skills-in-ideatura" />

1. Add the file with Attach file or select a supported workspace reference.
2. Attach the relevant skill if the task needs it.
3. Check the attachment and skill chips in the prompter.
4. Explain what each item contributes to the task.

<span id="files-and-skills-check-the-result" />

The prompt carries the intended files and instructions, with no unrelated reference left attached.
