# Files and storage

> Check file operations, save useful output and restore deleted files.

<h2 id="supported-operations">
  1\. Supported operations
</h2>

<span id="supported-operations-overview" />

Look up the environment, version, task, and operation you need. Reading a file, using it as a reference, editing it, and exporting it are separate capabilities.

Check the application version and connection requirements before starting. Use a small sample to confirm that the operation produces the format you need.

<h2 id="save-native-models">
  2\. Save native models
</h2>

<span id="save-native-models-overview" />

A conversation, a Studio file, and a connected Revit or AutoCAD document are different records. Saving one does not establish that the others are saved.

After inspecting a native change, save the application document using the appropriate project procedure. Keep useful Studio files in Projects and reopen the result to verify it.

<span id="save-native-models-in-ideatura" />

1. Identify whether the result is a Studio file or a native application change.
2. Save the native document where required.
3. Organise useful files in Projects.
4. Reopen the result and check content and editability.

<span id="save-native-models-check-the-result" />

The usable result survives closing and reopening the relevant file.

<h2 id="projects-and-timeline">
  3\. Projects and Timeline
</h2>

<span id="projects-and-timeline-overview" />

Projects is the shared workspace library. Timeline shows workspace output grouped by date, with search, filters and file details. Workbench is where your personal editable copies live.

Check the retention information shown in Timeline. Save useful output in Projects, confirm its destination and reopen the saved file.

<span id="projects-and-timeline-in-ideatura" />

1. Find the output in the conversation or Timeline.
2. Open and inspect the file.
3. Organise the useful output in the appropriate Project.
4. Return through Projects and confirm it opens.

<span id="projects-and-timeline-check-the-result" />

The result is in the intended project and can be found without the original conversation.

<h2 id="restore-files">
  4\. Restore files
</h2>

<span id="restore-files-overview" />

Trash shows deleted workspace files, their original location and remaining retention time. Check the time shown for the file you want to recover.

Restore the intended item and check where it returns. Restore all and Delete all affect multiple items; permanent deletion is different from restoring or closing a preview.

<span id="restore-files-in-ideatura" />

1. Open Trash and locate the file.
2. Inspect its identity and available restoration action.
3. Restore it and confirm it appears in the intended location.

<span id="restore-files-check-the-result" />

The restored file opens and contains the expected work.
