# Guidelines and skills

> Write standing workspace instructions and reusable skills.

<h2 id="workspace-guidelines">
  1\. Workspace Guidelines
</h2>

<span id="workspace-guidelines-overview" />

Use Guidelines for standing instructions about how Ideatura should work: units, naming conventions, preferred standards, and when you want a plan before a change.

Keep the rules concise and remove duplicates or contradictions. Put instructions for a specialist task in a Skill instead of making every conversation carry a long procedure.

<span id="workspace-guidelines-in-ideatura" />

1. Open the workspace Guidelines.
2. Add a short rule with an example when needed.
3. Remove conflicting or repeated rules.
4. Test the rule in a new bounded task.

<span id="workspace-guidelines-check-the-result" />

The result follows the rule and the guideline remains useful across more than one task.

  2\. Create skills
</h2>

<span id="create-skills-overview" />

A Skill packages specialist instructions for a recurring task. Keep it focused on one capability, such as checking a family’s parameters or applying a particular drawing convention.

Create or edit the skill, save it, and use Attach skill in the prompter when the task needs it. A Skill supplies instructions; a saved automation supplies runnable work.

<span id="create-skills-in-ideatura" />

1. Write a focused procedure with required inputs and result checks.
2. Save it in Skills.
3. Choose Attach skill in the conversation.
4. Confirm the skill chip and test it on a small task.

The skill can be found, attached, and used on a second task without copying the entire procedure into chat.
