# Arrange views

> Define alignment and usable sheet space before placement.

Fitting viewports on a sheet is different from aligning the model content inside them.

  1\. Define alignment
</h2>

State whether to align crop edges, viewport centers, grids, levels or another model reference. Specify reading order, scale and usable title-block space. Identify existing details and notes to preserve.

  2\. Test a layout
</h2>

Begin with one representative sheet, including a long view or annotation extending beyond the crop. Check whether the chosen workflow can express the required alignment; a successful rectangular grid does not establish model-coordinate alignment.

  3\. Review the printed result
</h2>

Inspect view identity, scale, titles, overlaps, margins and overflow in the actual sheet. Do not accept viewport counts alone. Use [Review drawing output](/draw/drawing-output/review-and-save-drawing-output) before saving or exporting.
