# Schedules

> Define the model data and tabular result you need.

A schedule is a data output. A set of type elevations or a room drawing package is a different deliverable.

<h2 id="choose-the-objects">
  1\. Choose the objects
</h2>

Specify the categories and whether the task uses Rooms, Areas or other elements. A CAD boundary or scope box does not substitute automatically for a Room. State phase, linked-model scope and exclusions.

<h2 id="specify-the-table">
  2\. Specify the table
</h2>

List fields, units, filters, grouping, sorting and totals. Decide whether to inspect an existing schedule or create a new result. Ask for unresolved prerequisites before changes; available operations depend on the application and task.

<h2 id="check-the-values">
  3\. Check the values
</h2>

Compare representative rows and totals with native element properties, and identify omitted or duplicate elements. Keep model-data consistency separate from the correctness of the underlying design. See [Inspect model data](/model/inspect-data).
