# Data and privacy

> Review project access, data policies and account controls.

Before adding project material, review the applicable policy for where it is stored, who can access it and how it is used.

Identify the actual material involved: prompts, attachments, screenshots, element information, model geometry and diagnostic reports may need different handling. Local work in a connected application does not by itself establish that no information is processed elsewhere.

Check the account controls available to you. Before deleting material or closing an account, save any output you need and read the confirmation for the effect on files and access.

Use the policy and terms applicable to your account to establish provider processing, storage location, retention, deletion, training use and staff/support access. These are separate questions. A statement about training does not answer where data is processed or how long it is retained.

If a project restriction depends on an answer the current policy does not supply, obtain that answer before uploading the affected material. Use a permitted minimal example for troubleshooting.

Use the [Community forum](/help/get-help) for general questions with non-sensitive examples. Keep private account details and confidential project material out of public posts. Review the audience and attached diagnostics before using [Report a problem](/studio-reference/ui-support#problem-reports); a workspace Support conversation is not automatically private.
