# Inspect model data

> Read model information before deciding whether to change it.

Keep inspection separate from repair. A report should make clear what was checked and what remains unknown.

</h2>

Name the document, categories, fields, views and exclusions. State whether linked elements are included. Ask for a read-only check and identify the exact rule to apply.

Request element identifiers, counts and exceptions. Compare requested categories with inspected categories. A consistent name or type assignment does not prove that the design uses the correct object in the correct location.

  3\. Inspect findings
</h2>

Use the reported identifiers to find representative elements in the native application and inspect their surrounding context. Do not assume reports contain clickable native navigation. Only request a correction after deciding that the finding is valid; see [Check requirements](/model/geometry/check-a-model-against-a-requirement).
