# Choose a task

> Explore what you can do in Ideatura and choose a useful first task.

Start with the result you need, then choose the working context and a small task.

Use a conversation to work on a model or drawing, or an automation to repeat a task. Examples include dimensions, views and sheets, markup to a Revit model, a parametric family from a drawing, DWG reconstruction, and standalone modelling.

<span id="whats-possible-check-the-result" />

Open an example close to your work. Check which application it uses, whether it runs through chat or an automation, and the inputs it needs. Identify the expected output and where you will inspect it.

  3\. Choose the working context
</h2>

<span id="working-contexts-overview" />

Use Ideatura on its own or connect it to another application. Available operations depend on the connection, so choose a guide for your application and output. In either case, give context, direct the work and inspect the result.

  4\. Start with a small task
</h2>

<span id="choose-a-task-overview" />

Choose a task with known inputs and a result you can inspect. Try it on a sample file first. Once you understand the workflow, repeat it on a small part of a copy of your own project.

If a prepared automation matches your task, follow [Run an automation](/automation/automation-basics/run-a-saved-automation-with-parameters). If you need a new operation or a reviewed adaptation, follow [Create an automation](/automation/automation-basics/create-an-automation-from-a-repetitive-task). Choose a useful task at your current project stage; existing sheets, annotations or families may need a bounded change rather than recreation. Check [Supported tasks](/studio-reference/supported-tasks) before committing to a large attempt.
