# How to talk to AI

> Explain the result you need, provide useful references and refine the work in conversation.

You can ask Ideatura to do work in ordinary language. You do not need to write code or know the command for every operation. Start with the result you need and give AI the project details it cannot guess.

## Name the result and the scope

“Fix the drawings” leaves too many choices open. Name the views, elements or sheets and say what should change:

> In Level 02, add room tags to the untagged rooms. Show room name, number and area. Keep the tags that are already there.

Use the names shown in your application. If you cannot describe the target clearly, attach a screenshot or mark the area in the viewer.

## Explain how to use your references

Attach the relevant PDF, image or model and tell AI what to take from it:

> Use this PDF for the window dimensions and materials. Create a Revit family with editable width and height. The photograph is only a reference for appearance.

If sources disagree, identify which one takes priority. For a large document, point to the relevant pages or section.

## State the rules that matter

Mention required units, naming conventions, styles and what must stay unchanged. Attach a [skill](https://docs.ideatura.ai/v2/get-started/standards-and-skills.md) when the same rules apply repeatedly.

> Rename only the selected views. Use the format “Level — View type — Area”. Keep sheet names and view templates unchanged.

For a report, specify the output you want: a table in chat, a spreadsheet, a marked-up PDF or another supported document.

## Ask AI to inspect when you are unsure

You can start with a question before asking for changes:

> Inspect the door types and their fire-rating parameters. Tell me which types have no value, grouped by level.

For a larger task, ask for a short proposed approach and settle the open choices before applying it to the whole project. If AI asks a question, answer it in the same chat.

## Correct the part that needs changing

Describe the difference between the result and what you wanted. Keep the parts that work:

> The plan layout is right. Move the north elevation below the plan and increase its scale to 1:20. Keep the other views where they are.

Inspect the updated result in the viewer or connected application. A precise follow-up is often enough; you do not need to start over or repeat the whole request.

## Save a method you want to reuse

Once a task works, ask for an [automation](https://docs.ideatura.ai/v2/get-started/automations.md) if you want to repeat it with different inputs. Save its conventions as a [skill](https://docs.ideatura.ai/v2/get-started/standards-and-skills.md) when you want AI to apply them to future work.
