# Work in Rhino

> Request an editable elevation from your architectural model and inspect the drawing in Rhino.

Use Ideatura with Rhino to request an editable drawing from your architectural model. Start with one elevation and describe how its lines should be organised.

## 1. Check the connection

Open your own architectural project in Rhino. Use the controls marked in the screenshot:

* **Connected Apps (1):** open the application and document selector.
* **Rhino document (2):** select your `.3dm` file. If several files or Rhino instances are open, confirm the exact document and its active viewport. The filename shown is only an example.
* **Access mode (3):** **Read** allows captures of the active viewport. Choose **Full** to run commands that create drawing geometry.

Check the model units and save your project before starting. See [Connect your model](https://docs.ideatura.ai/v2/overview/connections.md) for connection help.

## 2. Describe the drawing

Name the side of the building, the drawing output and anything that must remain unchanged. This example uses:

> Create an editable 2D elevation of the side of this building with the diagonal bracing. Put visible and hidden lines on separate layers, place the drawing beside the model, and keep the 3D building unchanged.

If the intended side is unclear, show the relevant viewport or attach a marked reference before proceeding.

## 3. Inspect the elevation

In this example, Ideatura created editable 2D curves beside the model, with separate **LH\_Elevation\_East::Visible** and **LH\_Elevation\_East::Hidden** layers. The original 3D building geometry remained unchanged.

Inspect each layer separately and select individual curves to check the linework. Only geometry visible during the run was included. Confirm the elevation’s direction, scale and position beside the model.

*Hidden lines are switched off in this view for clarity.*

## 4. Develop the drawing

Use the editable curves to develop the elevation: review linework, remove unwanted overlaps and add the annotations your drawing needs. Check the result before saving.

This is generated linework, not an automatically linked view. Regenerate and review it after changes to the 3D design.
