1. Check the complete path

Identify the input format, application and version, target document, operation and required output. Separate a standalone preview from native elements, and native geometry from a fully parametric family.

2. Read the relevant guide

For drawings, start with Interactive dimensions, Place tags or Room packages. For models, see Create a model and Revit families. Follow the prerequisites and result checks for the selected example.

3. Resolve an undocumented case

If the exact operation or version is not covered, ask in the Community forum with a non-sensitive example. Describe the needed result and prerequisites. Do not treat a conversational yes or a demonstration of a neighboring task as a support guarantee. For a fault in an existing workflow, report the problem.
