1. Define the drawing set
Open your own Revit project and decide what each sheet should contain. Start with:- The levels to include.
- The view template and drawing scale.
- The scope box controlling the area shown.
- The title block and naming convention.
2. Ask AI to create the automation
Start a new chat with your Revit project connected. Describe the complete task:Create an automation that makes one GA floor plan and one sheet for each level I select, ordered by elevation. Let me choose the title block, view template and scope box, and set the first sheet number. Apply my naming convention, place each plan in the sheet’s drawing area and hide its crop boundary. Let me review the inputs before running.Explain how existing views and sheets should be handled. For example, should the automation create new views, reuse existing ones or stop when a sheet number is already taken?
3. Set the naming and drawing information
Give concrete examples of your naming rules:
Explain which parts represent the project, originator, building or zone, level, document type and discipline. Include rules for basements, roofs and other unusual level names.
Ask for controls for Drawn By and Checked By, and identify the sheet or title-block parameters that hold this information.
Use your own project code and ask the automation to preserve Project Information. If it needs updating, describe that change explicitly.
4. Make the settings reusable
Ask Ideatura to expose the choices you need each time:Add inputs for levels, first sheet number, title block, view template and scope box. Include a naming prefix, Drawn By and Checked By. Add separate document-code fields if my naming standard needs them. Let me adjust the drawing-area inset and the viewport title’s downward offset in millimetres.Review the generated form. Confirm that its choices come from the correct project and that the selected template provides the intended scale and appearance. The example centres each view in the drawing area and moves its title downward. Centring a view does not automatically resize it to fit the sheet. The test uses level 01, the A0 metric title block, the GA plan template, Scope Box - General and 1:100 scale. Choose the equivalent settings in your project.
5. Test one sheet and refine it
Run the automation on one level first. Open the resulting sheet and check:- The correct level, view template and scope box.
- View names, sheet numbers and title-block information.
- Drawing scale, crop and fit within the sheet.
- Viewport title position and readability.
Use the GA template at 1:100 for these plans. Keep the selected scope box and increase the viewport title’s downward offset to 40 mm.The test created DOCS GA - 01 on DOCS-GA-001. The sheet below shows 1 the plan at 1:100, 2 its title and 3 the drawing information.
